Cultural and Creative Writing Exchange Tour to Scotland and London
Our students recently completed a ten-day cultural and literary exchange through Scotland and London, an experience designed to extend learning beyond the classroom while creating meaningful shared moments. Through a guided literary walk and creative writing workshop led by Dr. Janet de Vigne from the University of Edinburgh, students engaged with place, history, and language in personal ways.
Encounters with literature continued through a poetry reading and discussion with Richard Berengarten, offering students rare insight into the creative process. From a Cambridge lecture to the traditional experience of punting on the River Cam under perfect skies, the contrast of environments allowed our students to see the breadth of British intellectual life.
Alongside these academic experiences, the journey through the Scottish Highlands, including the Isle of Skye and the Old Man of Storr, provided moments of challenge and wonder. Unpredictable weather became part of a shared experience, as students quite literally ‘weathered the storm’ together, strengthening bonds and deepening their appreciation of the natural environment. This tour sought to bring students into contact with literature, landscape, and culture in authentic ways, while creating shared experiences.
